Lettera di Luisa Morgantini a Zakaria Zubeidi del Freedom Theatre di Jenin

Set 20, 2012 | Notizie

Caro Zakaria, sai quanto ti voglio bene.

Ti abbraccio forte.

Versione inglese

Dear, Dear Zakaria,

You cannot die.
You cannot leave your wife, your beloved children and all of us, who trust and believe in you, with your death to mourn.
Your determination to freedom and dignity will not be reached by your sacrifice.
To reach it we need all of your strength, your generosity, your smile.

Remember ? Once,  after Juliano was killed,  you told me – “ I cannot stand  any more people dying around me, I cannot stand anymore death” – yes you were sad, but still full of life and not willing to give up your commitment.

When you left the military resistance and decided that your struggle for liberation will be through culture and theatre I was so happy and so many people admired  you for the courage of your choice.

Yes, I was happy, because I strongly believe that violence brings more violence, happy because I thought that you will not be hunted anymore and eventually killed by the Israeli army.

If you will let you die, I will not admire your  sacrifice. I will not think that you are  a hero.

Honour and dignity are not shown when you kill yourself but when you fight for the right of people to live in dignity and freedom.
And you can do so if you are alive.

Dear Zakaria, you know how much I love you.
I was so moved when you said that I was like a mother to you.
I am sure your mother would  not allowed you to die, she was so proud to be a Palestinian and to struggle against occupation, but she would not support, as Arna and Juliano would not,  I am sure of it, your sacrifice.

I can imagine your desperation to be put in jail and to be treated in a inhuman and illegal way, by your own people.
Yes, we need to make the Pa accountable for the illegality of your arrest and detention.

Yes, I feel very guilty, I did not do enough to assert  your right to freedom  and your innocence.
But please Zakaria, don’t let you die, we need you, your children needs their father, you need them.
You can assert  your innocence and your right to freedom from the Palestinian  jail and from the Israeli occupation, standing with the Freedom theatre, and the struggle of the Popular Committees.

Zakaria, we need you alive, Palestine needs you alive!
